HONG KONG SHUE YAN UNIVERSITY LECTURE ROOM
From college to university, just like her motto, “Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizon and knowledge”, this institution well serves society as a tree chunk in the past 40 years, nurturing teenagers like her new leaves by providing opportunities and facilities. Thus comes this latest contribution to the big family. “Tree chunk” grew within the space and offers flexibility for both students and teaching staff to use it according to their own needs, same as what the school has kept doing.

The 3 rooms layout is kept after renovation: master bedroom, a playroom for grandchildren, and room for a son. Space for storing is one of the top priorities, so large size of an invisible storage system is designed. In the living room, a workstation is also blended in this invisible cabinet in a light wooden tone, which greatly softens the congested feeling. This is also the first project applying Samsung Smartthings Home Automation System, which links up all the appliances for easy control wirelessly.

A comforting palette of materials and colors are chosen and applied on the components that are featured inside the space, such as the ceiling of the entrance is cladded with oak veneer in the form of grilles, which allows a slight glimpse of the interior alongside the corridor; the timber stripping design is kept consistent from the living room to master bedroom. While accompanied with the key visual elements, the ordinary areas on the other hand remain as light tone stucco as possible to allow the owners to improvise through their own style of living.

ONE COOL is one of the leading film production enterprises in Asia. The studio design concept is based on the cinematic negative, not only the natural material in black & white tone is applied throughout the whole space, but its aspect ratios are also referenced for the spatial zoning. A common area for staff discussion is brought in for operational benefit, the space acts also as a buffer zone between
